1. CYLINDER BORING

Cylinder Blocks for boring are set up on a vertical boring machine . Each cylinder is checked with a cylinder bore gauge and on completion is transferred to a honing machine for finished sizing. We can also bore for, and fit liners.

2. HONING

Machines are used to give the required plateau finish, and cross hatch pattern to the cylinder bore as it is honed to the correct size After honing each cylinder is checked throughout its length with a cylinder bore gauge, to ensure that it is within the manufacturers sizes and tolerances .

3. INSPECTION

All machined components are subject to rigorous inspection procedures both during and on completion of operation. All our measuring equipment is calibrated at regular intervals.

4. SURFACE GRINDING & MILLING

A precision grinding/milling machine is used and cylinder heads and blocks are resurfaced to a high degree of accuracy, keeping tolerances within the manufacturers specification. Alloy heads can also be machined by using PCD tipped tools in place of the segmented grinding wheel. Heads with an angled face are set up on a graduated universal angle table.

Flywheels, Brake Discs and Brake Drums can also be machined on a purpose made machine ensuring concentricity and a first class surface finish.

5. PRESSURE TESTING

Cylinder Heads and Cylinder Blocks being tested are first of all stripped completely to give full access to all surfaces. They are set up on a jig and subjected to a pressure, and then submerged into a tank of water. We can rotate the component through 360°.

6. CLEANING

Extensive cleaning facilities are available, using both cold chemical dip tank and hot chemical wash cabinet.

7. VALVE SEAT MACHINING

Valves are re-ground and valve seats are machined to the correct angle as specified by the manufacturer. Prior to machining, valve stems and valve guide bores are checked for wear, valve seats are found to be cracked or damaged these can be machined and inserts fitted. Worn valve guides can be replaced. Where the guide is an integral part of the head, these can be machined and fitted with a sleeve, enabling the standard size valve stem to be used.
